The darker bread texture seems more natural , fillling, and nutrient in bulk then white floured bread.
So, you've decided to make the move of going dark. Well, good ideal to you as the white bread is a basic sponge cake as theres no nutrients or fiber to go through your system . I've learned to go to the dark side rather then light . So, im into the health order of life on the diet pyramid of health virtue. I found i accustomed to the taste and the quality was better. I was more energetic and felt better throughout the day. Yes, of course the fiber benefits. Also, it's a complete fat burner as whole wheat is packed with fiber and nutrients. The other healthy deal is it keeps you full longer and thus your weight management at an even scale.
A Woman browsing the land of breads. So, many to choose from and tricky labels..
Whole wheat is good , but make sure you get the correct form of whole wheat when you go out to buy it rather its bread , cereal, etc etc. whole wheat Enriched bread is refined, processed , and not good at all . The phony processed side of whole wheat bread are those. A label of refined take out the nutrients and are white flouur, white rice, and degermed cornflour. Also, another key ingrediant to look for and avoid  is bleached or unbleached. Sometimes, a bread loaf will say whole wheat this or that on the front label , a customer will think its all wheat and forget to look on the back of the bread.
Go for the realness
Always, look at the ingrediants as it should say whole wheat or 100% in the beginning of the list . If you really want to go health go organic whole wheat. Now, thats building a sandwhich or cereal for champions. You should look at the complete recipe in your food and steer clear of high fructose as it is like a chemical and bad affects. High fructose corn syrup causes diabeties, bloating, high blood pressure, etc etc. Also, increased sugar cravings as it tricks the body into thinking its hungrier then what you normally are and corrupt your normal system intake as its not very diabetic friendly for people with diabeties.High fructose corn syrup  ,  increases aging more quicker. Why do they add such ingrediant to breads? They add fructose to reduce the cost and prolong the bread shelf life . Its in so many of our items we digest nowadays. Soda big time.Thankfully, some products are getting rid of that syrup.

Yet, if you cant go complete dark, try half and half on bread. Whole grain white bread. Also, Barilla,  has a spaghetti out with that for people who cant or just wont because they are finicky, but want to be sorta healthy.wonder and most store brands have thaf bread thats whole grain white bread.its better then 100% white flour. Im saying this as a last resort. Its not as super duper healthy, but has some benefits and good for people who just cant give up that spongy white cake bread or  in your pasta , least your getting some benefits. I have gone competely to  dark side and no coming back lol as ive seen a big difference in myself and will be in better shape later in life as I get older.
I've  even discovered organic sprouted bread such as , Ezekial , which can have major shelf life and can be left in the fridge or freezer if you notice they put it in the freezer section too. I've freezed my breads and saved money in the process . Also, theres gluten free products that are natural for people, who cant tolerate wheat, grains, etc. It's all individual's needs and you can be healthy however your diet is long as you choose the correct food.
